Beautifully renovated 2-bedroom apartment with stunning views in the historic centre of Perugia, the home of Umbria Jazz and EuroChocolate!
This is a tastefully renovated 2-bedroom flat (65 sqm) in a building whose structure can be dated back to the 12th century. It is airy and has lots of natural light, tall ceilings, exposed beams throughout, cherry parquet flooring (except for terracotta in the kitchen and tiles in the bathroom), and amazing views of the famous San Francesco church and the ancient Aqueduct. The stunning Roman Temple (now a church) Il tempietto is a few minutes walk up the street.
The flat is equipped for wireless internet, and has a full carpenter-built library, satellite dish, a fitted kitchen including washing machine, dishwasher etc. There is a car park 1 min from the flat. The 2nd bedroom is currently used as a study but it would also make a very comfortable second bedroom. All rooms have a window, including the bathroom and kitchen, from which you can see the University church illuminated at night. The flat stays cool in the summer, and cosy and warm in the winter. The large, main bedroom is to the rear and is very quiet. The lounge overlooks a lovely street.
There are 3 flats in the building. Upstairs is owner-occupied by a couple and downstairs is empty right now. It is on the 2nd floor and there are no other flats in the same corridor.
There’s a handy grocery store next door, a gym on the same street and a fresh fruit and vegetable market at the end of the road every Tuesday and Thursday! There’s also a fish market 4 times a week in the Mercato Coperto. It’s a lively and safe neighbourhood and a few minutes walk into Perugia’s gorgeous city centre (Fontana Maggiore, Corso Vannucci) and it is a 3 mins from the Etruscan Arch.
Rome is only a 2 hour drive away, Siena one hour, Lake Trasimeno 20 mins, beautiful coastal towns in both Tuscany and Le Marche 2 hours away, Bologna 3 hours away. Perugia is an excellent base to explore Umbria, Tuscany and Le Marche as well as the Upper Tiber Valley, including famous art towns such as Monterchi, Urbino, Sansepolcro and Citta’ di Castello. Perugia’s airport is a 20-minute drive and flys to London, Barcelona, Cagliari, Brussels and Frankfurt; and there are plans to add Berlin, Paris and Amsterdam.
And if you feel like learning or improving your Italian, there are several courses available for all levels at the Foreigners’ University (a 3 minute walk).
